Our Story

Founded by Renee Sgro, a first generation Australian, whose mother immigrated to Australia from Portugal in 1971 and settled in the Illawarra region, NSW. Renee’s earliest childhood memories were of loud family gatherings under her grandparents’ grape vines. Her joker of a grandfather lovingly teased his grandchildren, while her grandmother kneaded dough for damper with her mother. Cousins were running around under the coloured festoon lights, the table covered in a feast and music filling the air. Moving to Melbourne while still young, no family gathering was ever quite the same as those early days.  

Indigo Heart was born from the authentic desire to connect to and share that ancestry, its culture, colour and life.   

Today, Renee and her husband of Italian heritage, enjoy creating their own gatherings with their three young children, family and friends. These heart-warming events bring so much joy, creating a powerful connection to culture, the past and the future. That is why warmth, family and friendship is at the heart of everything we do.
